The training course was attended by faculty members and students alike. The course aimed to explain how to study and analyze the petrophysical properties of the formation using porosity measurements, and determining total, effective, and secondary porosity as well as using the deep resistivity meter after determining the resistivity of stratified water using well-known charts. The course also focused on calculating water saturation values using the Archie relationship and determining hydrocarbon saturation as well as determining the presence and amount of hydrocarbon or gas in the reservoir.
The course recommended the necessity of using advanced software, including TECHLOG, when evaluating the performance of oil wells in the field.
The course topics were presented by the Dr. Maaly Salah Asaad, Dr. Muhammad Thamer Jaafar, Lecturer Salem Al-Abadi and assistant engineer Mustafa Mahmoud, over a period of three days in one of the classrooms in the aforementioned department.
