 The Vision and The Mission

  The subject of prosthetics and orthodontic devices is a material related to clinical medicine. It aims to provide for people with amputation of limbs or who need orthopedic, by providing supportive devices to people with weak muscles and bones or suffering from neurological disorders as well as those people with amputated limbs. So it is the work of a team where the disabled person is the focus of attention. Usually a rehabilitation specialist leads this team that works with specialists in the engineering of prostheses, orthotics, physical medicine, physiotherapy and social therapy.

  The development of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering Department in the Engineering College of the University of Kerbala was in coordination between Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Health, High Committee for Prosthetics and Orthotics, and International Committee of the Red Cross\ Iraq Branch. It was as a result to rise of scientific and human reality in this field especially in Iraq because of Wars and Terrorism.

Goals

The objectives of the development of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering Department are:

  • Graduating competent and creative engineers in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics to work in the Ministry of Health and medical industrial foundations.
  • Fill of part of the large shortage of engineering and technical staff specialized in centers of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
  • Community service by helping a wide range of people with disability to be active in society.
  • Promote scientific research in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
