The assistant professor, Dr. Ali Ghanem Abbas Al-Khafaji, in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Karbala, was chosen as a member of the discussion committee for the master’s student, Abdul Razzaq Abdul-Hussein, for his thesis tagged with the behavior of reinforced concrete beams containing hybrid fibers under the influence of repeated loads.

The thesis aimed to study the behavior of reinforced concrete beams containing different percentages of hybrid fibers (steel fiber + polyproplene fiber) and under the influence of static loads and repeated loads. Fourteen models of beams were tested to study the different factors (fiber percentage; loading percentage).

The study reached important results that showed an improvement in the behavior of concrete beams containing hybrid fibers under the influence of repeated loads compared to those without fibers.

After the student discussed the thesis content in detail, the discussion committee recommended its acceptance after making some minor modifications.

The committee’s opinions were unanimous in granting the researcher a master’s degree in civil engineering
