The operation of a system based on the cam was studied for a master’s thesis by student Minyar Hamdi in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering. The thesis was titled “Simulation and analysis of an infinite transmission system based on the principle of cam operation.” The goal of the study is to examine how a mechanical system, with the cam serving as its central component, operates in an infinitely variable speed ratio environment.
According to the researcher, this system might be put to use if it were designed and selected for usage in gearboxes for automobiles or wind-powered electrical energy generation systems. He provided an explanation of this based on the research findings as he worked to use theoretical analysis and the Matlab Sims Cape program to analyze the speed and acceleration of the axis issuing from the system at various conversion ratio scenarios. Upon completion of the investigation, the study determined that, in contrast to other conventional systems, limitless speed rates can be achieved when using this type.
Subsequently, the thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which was chaired by Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Hassan and included Professor Dr. Uday Ibrahim Abdullah, Assistant Professor Dr. Muslim Mohsen Ali, and Assistant Professor Dr. Amjad Malik Abboud (a member and advisor)
