The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the important engineering departments at the University of Kerbala. Since its establishment in 2008, the department has been preparing creative engineers who are able to keep pace with the labor market and contribute effectively to the design and maintenance of many specialized systems in the fields of electrical engineering, including power systems, electrical machines, electronic  and communications systems, and control systems and computers, which contributed to supplying country institutions, both in the private and governmental sectors, with an elite group of distinguished engineers.

The department has a high-level teaching staff who graduated from reputable Iraqi and international universities and have diverse specializations in the fields of electrical engineering with high academic titles, distinguished scientific research activities, and teaching experiences capable of preparing competent engineers.

The department has specialized laboratories in various fields of electrical and electronic engineering that are used to train students on the practical aspect to increase the student’s understanding of the scientific material and prepare them for the practical aspect that they may need after graduation and while practicing the profession.

The department includes two types of study: undergraduate study, both morning and evening, which graduates the student with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering. The department also includes postgraduate study, which graduates the student with a master’s degree in electrical engineering.

With the integration of the teaching and research expertise of the department’s teaching staff, the availability of laboratories and specialized equipment’s, and the excellence of the students, the department has produced many pioneering graduation projects, both at the level of undergraduate and postgraduate studies. These projects have resulted in researches published in reputable international journals, in addition to obtaining several Patents.

The department aims to always keep pace with scientific development, whether at the level of the given syllabus while preserving the theoretical engineering foundations and creating research projects that contribute to solving the problems posed by industrial partners from the government and the private sectors. Thus, the outputs will be an engineer that combines the fundamental engineering foundations and ready to participate effectively in the work fields, which make it a distinct engineering department that attracts students.
