Assistant Professor Dr Ali Fawzi Najm Al-Shammari, a lecturer at the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at the University of Kerbala, received a grant from the World Bank as part of his plan for a project to finance a set of pioneering ideas to support the work of the institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education.
About 300 projects were submitted by various Iraqi universities for competition, where 30 projects were selected, including candidates for the final liquidation, and the list included two projects submitted by Dr Al-Shammari. The qualifications ended with the selection of one of the nine projects that won a grant from the Bank.
The winning project included the establishment of a laboratory for open source technologies (related to software and embedded electronic systems) and aims to develop researchers, graduates and students of the final stages in this field.
