In the college of engineering, a discussion held of master thesis which entitled” The effect of ground topographic and climate change on sewerage system under different heavy rain falls in Najaf city – the Ameer sector as a case study”. This thesis is done by the postgraduate student Salam Naji Hussein and supervised by professor Dr. Basim Khalil Naiel Al Saeedi (from University of Kerbala) and professor assistant Dr. Haider Muhammed Ni’ma (from Al Kasim green university).
The discussion committee was from the following honorable academic faculty:
- Professor Dr. Jabbar Hmoud Al Baidhani – Head (University of Babel)
- Professor Dr. Musa Habib Jasim – Member (University of Kerbala)
- Professor assistant Dr. Ahmed Sameer Naji – Member (Al Kasim green university)
The thesis aimed to generate curves that mix all the effects of (quantity- time span – the frequency) IDF of climate change in Najaf city as well as ground topography change on sewerage water [the downstream and upstream] which had been evaluated through a model of a rain management system (SWMM).
The result referred to that if an increase in the area of accumulative rain reservoir from 50% to 100%; there was a change for the total water current from 20380 to 37350 m3, and the total flood change from 10513 to 26032 m3 respectively. The time span was from 2 to 5 year for this study. A solution has been suggested to minimize the floods of sewerage water for all types of rain fall.
