With heartfelt efforts and a spirit of generosity, the College of Engineering at the University of Karbala welcomed a group of children from Al-Warith Shelter and Community Rehabilitation Center as part of a series of recreational activities celebrating the Sha’baniyah birth anniversaries.
The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Haider Nadhim Aziz Al-Muhanna, who expressed his joy at hosting the children. He emphasized that their presence brought happiness to the college and wished them a bright future, hoping that one day they would become students or faculty members in this academic institution.
The Dean highlighted the importance of introducing the children to the college’s scientific departments, stressing the need to use such opportunities to inspire them towards education and innovation. He also praised the efforts of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, particularly the initiative led by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Talib and Assistant Lecturer Raghad Wahab, alongside several faculty members and fourth-year students from the department, who played a key role in organizing the event.
Following that, Assistant Professor Dr. Moayad Salim Kood, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, delivered a speech welcoming the children and emphasizing the significance of supporting such initiatives that strengthen the bond between the college and the local community.
The event also featured a special moment when one of the children recited verses from the Holy Quran, adding a spiritual touch to the occasion. The visit included a guided tour of the college’s laboratories, designed to spark the children’s curiosity about applied sciences and engage them with modern technology.
As the celebration concluded, the Dean presented symbolic gifts to the children, who expressed their delight at this meaningful visit. The experience not only brought joy and hope into their hearts but also inspired them to dream of one day joining the College of Engineering as future students.
