Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Laith Shaker Rashid Al-Qarawi, Dean of the College of Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering held a meeting to discuss renewable energy, its types, and ways to develop them in a way that serves the development of society and what can be gained to the community as part of Global Leadership Week activities.
The seminar addressed the use of solar stills and how to use them to produce potable water by outlining the different kinds of distillers and the stages of their development in research conducted by postgraduate studies in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It also covered how to use solar stills in Iraq to produce drinking water using solar energy and how to benefit from these devices in remote areas for the benefit of the public. Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Jabbar Karaji and Professor Dr. Abbas Sahi supervised this work.
It is important to note that this event took place during Scientific Leadership Week where the Dean of the College of Engineering was present.
