Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Laith Shaker Rashid Al-Qaraawee, and within the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Department of Architecture Engineering held a discussion panel entitled (Architectural Characteristics in the City of Karbala to Achieve a Contemporary Local Identity) within the Global Entrepreneurship Week, delivered by the teacher, Dr. Haider Naji Attia, and in the presence of the Head of the Department of Architecture Engineering. Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Ibrahim Muhammad Allawi and a number of professors, engineers and students.
The seminar aimed to investigate and search for the symbols and formal elements that formed each Iraqi city with its own identity. As these elements were formed according to the need and functional purpose performed by each of these elements, which combine according to design principles to form the overall architectural form.
The lecture concluded that the importance of the topic of identifying the identity of our cities in Iraq, which is considered a stepping stone towards leadership among cities, is to strengthen belonging and requires holding specialized workshops that delve into the details and rationales of local identity.
