Under the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Haider Nazim Al-Muhanna- the Dean of the College of Engineering- and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Assist Prof. Dr. Muslim Mohsen Ali Al-Sharifi; a cosmetic prosthetic limb was manufactured for a patient suffering from amputations in both legs at the Prosthetics and Orthotics Laboratory. This event was attended by technician Mr. Hussein Abd Zaid and the laboratory staff, including engineers and students from the second and third stages.
The amputation was a result of war, as the patient had been using an old prosthesis for over 25 years, leading to its deterioration and adverse effects on the amputation site.
This effort is part of the service activities offered by the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics to support the community, and it is directly overseen by the College of Engineering.
