The College of Engineering at the University of Kerbala held a seminar entitled (Cold-Mix Asphalt), presented by Professor Dr. Shaker Faleh Shaker, with the participation of researchers and specialists from the Department of Civil Engineering, which aimed to produce high-strength asphalt concrete.
The seminar included a group of researchers from around the world making effective contributions to the production of high-hardness asphalt concrete, which made the mixtures lose their ability to elongate. The recent research that was conducted in cooperation between the researcher and a group of road agencies in the United Kingdom implemented it on an applied level on-site in two cities: Blackburn. And Blackpool in the United Kingdom, where a section of the developed cold-mix asphalt was created and monitored for over a year. Data and tests confirmed the distinctiveness of the developed mixture and the possibility of implementation outside the laboratory, as shown in the laboratory results.
In addition, the researchers mentioned the possibility of overcoming most defects with the need to make additional and continuous scientific efforts to produce high-quality asphalt mixtures in all aspects of size, mechanical and durability.
