The final defense of a master’s thesis by researcher Maryam Ibrahim Abdel-Jalil, titled “Manufacturing and analysis of ankle-foot orthoses using proposed reinforced composite materials,” took place in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at the University of Kerbala.
The goal of the project was to develop and produce an ankle support (made of composite materials) for individuals with foot drop disease or ankle-related muscle weakness.
After the composite materials were applied to a real disease case and demonstrated superior outcomes compared to the materials currently utilized in foot and ankle therapy centers, the study suggested implementing a particular configuration of these materials during the manufacturing process.
The thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which consisted of Professor Dr. Zuhair Jabbar Abdul Amir / College of Engineering, University of Kerbala (chairman), Assistant Professor Dr. Muslim Mohsen Ali / College of Engineering, University of Kerbala (member), and Professor Dr. Mohsen Abdullah Abdul Hussein / College of Engineering, University of Baghdad (member). ) Professor Dr. Mohsen Jabr Juwaij / Al-Farahidi University (member and advisor) and Dr. Ahmed Qasim Hassan / University of Kerbala _ College of Engineering (member and advisor).
