Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Nazem, and under the supervision of the Head of the Prothotics and Orthotics Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Muslim Mohsen Ali, the orthotics Laboratory treated two cases of children, one of whom suffers from a wide-knee condition. And the other suffers from Knock Knee.
The laboratory staff, under the supervision of (Ahmed Ali Ghafel), prosthetic and orthotics technician, took a mold of the two patients in front of the students of the second stage and took the necessary measurements to make an AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) support ideal for both children. After that, the students diagnosed the condition of the two patients and took molds for them, which is the first stage. From the stages of making the bolster and completing the steps of making the bolster, including casting the mold and sculpting it from gypsum, according to the exact measurements taken from the two patients, and then removing the plastic to make the bolster complete, so that this is a practical experience for the students to learn how to make the bolster in an integrated manner and deliver it completely to the two patients.
Among the goals of the College of Engineering at the University of Karbala is to contribute effectively by training students to communicate with real cases and make high-quality handouts. The real goal is to motivate students to engage in volunteer work.
