A master’s thesis was submitted to the College of Engineering – Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kerbala, tagged (An analytical study of the risk factors affecting the implementation of road activities and their impact on the quality (Circular road as a case study)) by the student Zeina Ali Fadel. The first chapter shows a brief introduction to the research, its justifications, hypotheses and objectives, in addition to the work methodology and structure, as well as presenting the results of previous research and studies that dealt with quality management and the process of managing and analysing risks on the road. The second chapter discusses the relevant concepts and definitions, terminology, types of roads, risks, and risk management and describes the effects of quality on the roads. The third chapter discusses the field survey and its various stages related to conducting personal interviews and preparing a questionnaire to study risk management in road projects, and then statistical analyses that show the extent to which quality management requirements are applied in the field in analysing and managing risks in road projects.
The fourth chapter includes statistical analysis of the data using the SPSS statistical program as well as the Smart-PLS program for structural equation modelling. The fifth chapter included the development of a computer program to calculate the amount of impact of all risks on road quality. Finally, the sixth chapter included the conclusions reached by the researcher and a proposal for some recommendations for using the program computer and put forward some suggestions for future research.
The thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Ali Muhammad as Chairman, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Abdel Majeed Khalil (member), Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Rahman Adnan (member), Assistant Professor Ghafil Karim Aswad (member and supervisor), and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Nehme Ahmed (member and supervisor).
