A master’s thesis was submitted to the College of Engineering – Department of Civil Engineering – Infrastructure at the University of Kerbala, entitled (Protection of Infrastructures under Surface Loadings:
Application of Some Geosynthetic Products) by the student Maysam Abdel Wahab Rahim. The first chapter dealt with the scientific background of the topic and the importance of the research and its objectives, while the second chapter reviewed previously published studies. The third chapter includes the research methodology, materials, and tests used in the study. The fourth chapter presents the analysis of the data and results obtained from the practical part of this study. The fifth chapter is concerned with the conclusions and future recommendations.
The thesis aims to reduce applied pressures on buried pipes using Geogrid products, to know the performance of soil reinforced with Geogrid products, and study the stresses distributed on these pipes.
The thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which consisted of Professor Dr. Qasioun Saad Al-Din Muhammad (Chairman). Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Rahman Adnan (member) and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Razzaq Abd al-Rida (member), Assistant Professor Dr. Mahdi Abbas Mahdi (member and supervisor) and Professor Dr. Shaker Faleh Shaker (member and supervisor).
