On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the College of Engineering hosted in Karbala University the proceedings of the closing session of the Third International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering in Iraq, which witnessed the presence of the President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Basim Khalil Nile al-Seedi and his administrative and scientific assistants, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Laith Shaker Al-Qarawi and his administrative and scientific assistants. The conference was attended by government and scientific figures of different nationalities.
The closing session of this distinguished edition of the conference included welcoming speeches to researchers and the organizing and scientific committees supervising this scientific event in appreciation of the efforts made and the quality of the scientific outputs presented. It was started by the President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Basim Khalil Nile al-Seedi, and then came the speech of the Director of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, Professor Abdul Amir Al-Quraishi, Then the session concluded with a speech by the President of the Iraqi Society for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Karkush, which included the final recommendations of the conference, which represent the basic foundation for applied scientific solutions to real problems.
The closing events also witnessed a visit to the most important engineering and strategic sites within the projects of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, which is the project of the courtyard of Al-Aqeelah Zainab, peace be upon her. A field tour of the project, and the tour concluded with blessings by visiting the holy shrines of Imams Hussein and Abbas, peace be upon them. We pray to God Almighty to grant success to the participants, contributors and supporters of this event, for what is good and righteous.
