The Department of Architecture Engineering held a scientific symposium tagged “Urban Numbering for the Holy City of Karbala”, which was held at the headquarter of the University of Karbala, in the presence of a large group of government departments and institutions, the representative of the Governor of Karbala, the Honourable President of the University, and a number academics staff. The Dean of the College, Professor Laith Shaker Rashid Al-Qarawi gave warm welcomes to the attendees, and expressed in his speech, the importance s of the College of Engineering is to harness its scientific outputs to serve the community in assistant with the Directorate of the Holy Karbala Municipality, which has given the exceptional importance of the holy city in Iraq and the Islamic world.
The Head of the Department of Architecture, Dr. Haider Naji Attia, stated that the project included the design of a modern system for numbering the holy city of Karbala, the development of the scientific and technical foundations necessary for its implementation, the preparation of general specifications for the guiding boards, the planning and engineering requirements for their installation, and the information to be provided in each type of painting.
And in his turn, the assistant professor, Dr. Hussein Turki Attia, / Department of Architecture indicated that the work had begun in December of the year 2020, and the design of the system and the preparation of the technical guide for the numbering was completed in June of the year 2021. The numbering was completed according to the design prepared by a work team within the Holy Karbala municipality and under the field supervision of the project consultant, daily follow-up from the former director, Eng. Abeer Al-Khafaji, and continuous follow-up from the Governor of Holy Karbala, especially in choosing the appropriate design for numbering plates from among a number of options
