A master’s thesis entitled “Optimal Design of Hydraulic Structures Using Simulation-Double Optimization” was discussed in the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Karbala, prepared by M.Sc student Doaa Hadi Khashan and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Waqid Hamid Hassan from the University of Karbala.
The discussion committee consisted of the following gentlemen:
1_Prof. Dr. Thaer Jabbar Muzher _ President / University of Babylon.
2_ Assistant Professor Dr. Basem Shebaa Abed, member / University of Baghdad.
3 The teacher, Dr. Riyad Jassim Muhammad _ member / University of Karbala.
The thesis aimed to implement a new genetic algorithm “Genetic algorithm with Finite Difference Programming Technology”, to obtain the best location and depth of the partition wall, which achieves the safety factor against the phenomenon of pipes and against lifting pressure.
The results showed that the model that was used in the study is an optimal solution that achieves both safety parameters against the phenomenon of pipes and lifting pressure, at the lowest cost.
