The Department of Petroleum Engineering at the Engineering College at the Kerbala University organized a training course entitled “Sulfur Production Unit from Natural Gas using the Claus Method” in the seminar hall of the department. The course was attended by a group of professors and fourth-year students in the department, where its activities continued for three consecutive days. The course covered several topics, the first of which was to provide an overview of natural gas, its classifications and specifications. The second axis focused on the production of sulfur after separating it from gas using the developed Claus method, while the third axis discussed related topics such as the transportation and storage of sulfur and industrial safety for workers in the sulfur production unit from natural gas. This course represents an opportunity for fourth-year students to increase their knowledge and qualify them to enter the labor market as engineers in this important industrial unit. On the other hand, the course opened up scientific research horizons for participating professors, regarding the development of the sulfur production unit and the invention of new methods to improve its performance.
