On the campus of University of Al-Furat Al-Awsat, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Jabbar Karaji, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, participated as Chairman in the final defense of the master’s thesis entitled “A Study of the Effect of Secondary Air Temperature and Fuel Type on the Flame Length in a Rotary Kiln.”
The study involved performing practical tests to compare the performance of using cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas) with diesel fuel while examining the temperature of secondary air utilized in cement plant burning facilities along the flame. The findings demonstrated that increasing the secondary air temperature causes the flame’s length to decrease and its intensity and efficiency to increase. Because liquefied gas is readily available locally and less expensive than imported natural gas or diesel fuel, this has a positive impact on the economic efficiency anticipated by using it.
