The master’s thesis by student Ali Fadlallah Hussein investigates the evaluation of the performance of some roundabouts in Kerbala Governorate on their current status and their assessment after converting them to Roundabouts with traffic lights. It has five chapters, where the first chapter deals with the scientific background of the subject and the importance of researching it, the second chapter reviews previous studies and the knowledge gaps that the research aims to fill, and the third chapter explains the research design, methods and procedures used in data collection, analysis and interpretation. The fourth chapter presents the data and results that have been collected or analyzed in the study, while the fifth chapter is concerned with analyzing and discussing the results in light of the research objectives and hypotheses put forward.
The purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the performance of some roundabouts in Kerbala Governorate on their current status and to evaluate them after converting them to roundabouts with light signals, as well as after converting them to intersections with light signals. The thesis recommended developing a comprehensive plan for developing the traffic system in Kerbala, as converting a specific roundabout into a signal intersection is a temporary solution that will disappear over time.
