Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering Department

Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering Department had been founded in 2014. The first course of students was accepted in 2014-2015.

The department aims to prepare engineers who have specialized knowledge in the field of traditional and smart Prosthetics industry, as well as therapeutic and evaluation Orthotics.

The department has been established due to urgent and pressing need, because of the increasing number of disabled patients caused of childbirth, illness or terrorism. And it has humanitarian and economic aspects by reducing the suffering of that group of people and the inclusion of them in society.

The department is in a continuous growth and development as specialized laboratories have been established to raise the scientific and practical level of the students, as, for example, Prosthetics and Orthotics Industry Laboratory which specializes in traditional and cosmetic prosthetics, with therapeutic and evaluation orthotics, and Mechatronics Laboratory that cares about intelligent prosthetics, with a continued work on the establishment of other laboratories.

We are working hard to connect the department with the community by activating the principle of “university in the service of society” through joint cooperation with Centers of Prosthetics and Medical Rehabilitation affiliated to the Ministry of Health. Receiving patients with disabilities to be processed by the students of the department and supervised by specialists in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics Industry.
