The College of Engineering participated in the opening session of the Third International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering, which was held in the Al-Hakim Hall at the University of Baghdad. The participation was represented by a scientific delegation headed by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Laith Shaker Rashid Al-Qarawi, and included the administrative assistant dean and a number of faculty members as participating researchers and members of committees in the conference. The conference witnessed the attendance of government and scientific figures of different nationalities. The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, started the conference’s speeches by welcoming and praising the ladies and gentlemen, researchers and attendees, as well as the conference committees. The participation of the College of Engineering also represented an active role in the organizing and scientific committees of the conference, in addition to the research contribution through the research outputs. The opening session also witnessed the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Al-Qarawi, giving a welcoming speech at the opening session, followed by honoring the members of the preparatory and scientific committees of the conference from different nationalities with certificates of appreciation of their scientific efforts that contributed to the conference success. The honoring also included the supporting committees of the conference. The participation of the College of Engineering comes to support such scientific activities in the service of the scientific process in our dear country and to cooperate with scientific societies, universities and all educational institutions. The College of Engineering at the University of Karbala will host the activities of the closing day of this distinguished version of the conference as active participants in its successes, next week.
